Norton 5.0 out of 5 stars Bought this as a last resort as it did not need a masthead power supply. To my surprise it works. I crawled around the loft and bought a few F connectors and now we have 2 tvs running off a weak signal. No picture break up. Please check your inbox, and if you can’t find it, check your spam folder to make sure it didn't end up there. Please also check your spam folder. Husband checked the aerial and the cable looks fine. We have an amplifier Labgear MSA 263 LP under the stairs that usually has a strong blue light but now that light although visible is very faint. We also have a splitter close to the amplifier but all the connections look fine. We have 2 TV's with built in freeview Panasonic and Sony and an older one with a Phillips box they all show 0 signal. You can see the title of the channel but nothing else. What could have happened overnight as the weather was fine? Thanks It feeds the power in via the no1 coax output.http://www.olympicwroclaw.pl/zdjecia/fck/3c17300a-manual.xml

labgear msa263lp manual.

First thing to do is disconnect the lead between the power supply and the splitter. If its blue light recovers the power supply is OK. Next reconnect the power supply to the splitter no1 socket disconnect all other leads including the incoming aerial on the end. If the blue light goes out or very dim the amplifier is faulty. If it doesn't you probably have a short circuit on one of the cables. You need to leave it for about 10-15minutes after connecting each lead before checking the light. (It's a bind I know but I'm talking from personal experience here - the plasterers hammered flat the capping over one of my aerial leads and it took hours to find) If you have something which can test for short circuits, save yourself some time, pull the aerial lead out of the back of all of the TVs and check that they all show open circuit. If you haven't, just reconnect the leads to the splitter one by one, waiting each time to see if the blue light dims. A short circuit, or partial short circuit as mine was draws current from the amplifier putting the power supply under strain. Eventually its output falls (to protect the amplifier) which is why the blue light dims. Let us know what you find. The amplifier we had was a lab less than 2 years old so I did expect it to last a bit longer. What is the usual lifetime expectancy for these things? If you rest it in thick-pile carpet next to a fire, about 6 months. Electronics Engineer and Technical Writer. It feeds the power in via the no1 coax output. Eventually its output falls (to protect the amplifier) which is why the blue light dims. Let us know what you find. Thanks for sharing. If you rest it in thick-pile carpet next to a fire, about 6 months. It shows the power input to socket 1 isolated from the rest of the sockets. It's not quite like that as a full or partial short circuit on any of the sockets draws current from the power supply.http://indianpowerliftingfederation.com/userfiles/cdx-m600r-service-manual.xml

As I said in my response to the OP I had a partial short circuit where the plasterers (god bless 'em) had hammered down the end of the capping, to keep down the amount of plaster they needed to apply. Electronics Engineer and Technical Writer. Listen now for interviews with the biggest soap stars and all the latest spoilers - available on every major podcast app ?? I have cured the problem today totally by accident, but am not sure how. I bought a Labgear MSA263LP distribution amp with remote power source (through coax). My plan was to see if my exisiting amp was the problem. I was disappointed to find that the signal got worse, not better, but couldn't be bothered to reconnect the other amp. Tonight, I decided to get my Woolworth's (RIP) Worthit freeview box out, because it has a really good signal level indicator. By chance, whilst fiddling, I set the set the worthit box line power to 12v. All of a sudden, the signal on all channels jumped to 93% (from 56% or worse). The Worthit box is connected to a different socket from the Labgear power unit. My question- is it possible that I am super powering the Labgear from both lines. Is this even possible. If this is not the case, what do you suggest is going on?? I'm happy that I am getting results, as my poor freeview performance has been bugging me for years. However, I really want to work out HOW!! Would be great if anyone could think this through! Daniel The other possibility is there's a break in the coax somewhere or the amps psu is not working. andy If I have the Worthit power on, but not the Labtech, I get the strongest results, though I had some muxes randomly drop off. If I have both on, everything screams in. I am beginning to thinnk that I must have some kind of masthead amplification I wasn't aware of, as the Wothit should not be able to power the Labtech as it is connected to the wrong port. Confused, yet happy. The distribution amplifier will more than likely block any DC between it's outputs and input.

It's not entirely clear from your post but do I get the imprtession the Labgear PSU and the Worthit box are on separate cables back to the distribution system. If that is the case what happens if you swap the two over. Are you absolutely, 100% definitely, bet on your grannies life certain that the Labgear PSU is connected to the correct input on the amplifier!?! I am pretty sure I am trying to power the right input, but I will have another play tonight. As I said- without either power supply, I get no signal at all. With the PSU, I get around 56% signal, with the Worthit box, I get 97% signal. I could come back with a red face because I connected it to the wrong line!!!! Funny thing is, I have loads of satellite kit, which I understand really well and am good at configuring. However, my Freeview seems to be leading a somewhat bizarre (and very unco-operative) life of its own. So I can get and record Arte in HD (DVB-S2) via a media centre, but can't watch Fiver!!!! Daniel The Worthit box may well be on the right input which is why it works so much better. If you have multiple cables running to one location it is not dificult to get a couple swapped round. Especially if they were all run at the same time and were not labeled up at each end first. I've spent many a happy hour chasing cables with a multimeter trying to work out which one goes where! It could well be that the signal improvement was nothing to do with me, but them playing around. For instance, they may have done a test with the signal boosted just for the evening I happened to be testing. At present, they have Mendip turned right down, so I am hardly getting anything. Still, at least this leads me to be optimistic about the signal strength when DSO occurs. It also underlines how rediculous this changeover period is if you are in a weaker reception area. One day, all there, next day, all gone. Daniel All Rights Reserved. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. Can I play the 'I'm a girl!' Card here?! I'm having trouble with my reception and I hope someone can help or I'm going to have to ask an aerial engineer to come in. My ex-boyfriend renovated my house and part of that was installing new aerial cables throughout. He's used a labgear msa263lp in the loft connected to a loft aerial and it has various cables connected which run through the walls to wall sockets in the rooms. The signal I get from one of the aerial sockets in the lounge is fine, but none of the other sockets seem to work properly, at least, I'm getting a grey scrambled, unwatchable picture with them. I first noticed it with my bedroom tv and I've bought countless ready made fly leads and my dad has made one using the cabling and connecting ends onto it. None are working in any wall socket apart from one in the lounge. I have tried to investigate by moving my little bedroom tv around all the wall sockets and it works perfectly in the socket that the lounge tv is connected to but not with any other in the house. Does anyone have any idea what could be happening, I'm sorry if I haven't explained it well. I'm getting so frustrated and my poor dad is too Is this power supply plugged in somewhere and connected to one of the aerial sockets. If it is then it may be a question of going up in the loft and checking that all the connections are good, from my understanding they are f-type connectors and so screw into the distribution box, just because they are screwed in however doesn't mean they are good. Unscrew them individually and check the length and quality of the copper core, this could have corroded or may be too short. Also check that non of the shielding in the cable is touching the core, one pesky strand of shielding can ruin the signal.

Check one at a time and try swapping them with the feed to the lounge which you know does work and then if this is turn makes any other aerial sockets work (if it is remote power then remember to move it too and make sure you switch off the power before undoing connectors as they may spark). You can work out then whether it's the individual sockets or cables at fault. It has a box with the aerial cables screwed into and a lead to a power box which is also in the loft as there is a 3 pin power socket there. I will do as you suggest, I did check they were all screwed tightly but I haven't inspected the cable ends themselves. Thanks again, hopefully you have saved me some cash! Do you (or did you have) Sky TV in the lounge. There has never been sky in this house so there are no sky compatable cables. From what I can see the loft arial goes to the labgear and the room arial leads come out of the labgear, through the walls and into the room wall points. Does that make sense. I don't think there's anything wrong with the labgear as I get a signal through each room point, it's just that they are unwatchable, broken signals. (To be honest I think it's more a problem with how my ex set it all up as I've subsequently realised that quite a few things have been done in a rather blizzard way!) Thanks again for your help It may tell a lot. Cutting the centre conductor at a 45-degree angle to make a 'point' helps with insertion into the sockets. NB the one to the lounge TV is (obviously) OK as it works! (?) Tune in the little TV on the lounge feed if it needs to be with a 'good flylead' - don't retune again - and then use it and that fly-lead as a 'test receiver' on the feeds as you inspect and fix them. Once fixed you should get good pictures immediately. PS There isn't a second aerial anywhere on the house by any chance (that could feed the lounge socket only)??

If the booster has a way to adjust the output strength then try reducing it to see if reception in the other rooms improves. The results may give a guide as to whether high or low signal strength is the issue.
