Avoid power strips and never plug into a battery back up. Also it should not be plugged into the same outlet as a space heater, copier, coffee maker, or any other device that consumes a lot of power. If the machine has been transported and just came in from an extreme cold environment HP and other manufactures recommend letting the machine sit 2 to 4 hours before they are plugged in and used.
