(4) Again, especially when I was in a rush -- for no apparent reason (about once a month) -- the printer would decide to print in ULTRA SLOW MOTION -- where it took about three minutes for a page of black text to print. Sometimes just one page would print like that and then normal printing would resume, and other times the slow motion printing continued until the end of the document. This was enormously frustrating. (5) Ink is expensive! (6) There is no paper feeder, so anytime I needed copies of a document, it meant putting each page on the scanner flatbed, one at a time, which was very time consuming. (7) When canceling a print job, it sometimes (not always) took a long time (several minutes) for the printer to reset to be ready to accept a new print job. (8) The main paper tray does not hold much paper -- maybe 100 sheets -- so for frequent e-mail and document printing, it ran out of paper a lot. The paper is too thin and the prints never seem to dry. I can forget trying to send them to any one in a card. Even after drying over night, if I tuck a couple in an envelope, the still stick together in spots. Same with a frame-get all sorts of sticky spots on the glass. The standard paper should at least work, I would just expect the advanced paper to be heavier and have better overall image quality. However, as it turns out, if you actually want DRY images, you can't seem to use the standard. My wife has given up on this and uses my in-laws Epson Snap photo printer. Side-by-side, image quality is about the same. But the paper that comes in the standard bundle with ink is considerably better-thicker, better feel, and the ink drys considerably faster (and completely too). Add to that, it's easier to use too. It's always out of ink and about the time I replace 1-2 cartridges, others run out. Buying this printer or the new, updated version of it is liking throwing your money away. Don't not buy this printer.It worked fine until I had to change the yellow ink cartridge for the first time about 3 months ago. It said the ink cartridge was depleted (after I put the new one in). I bought another package of all the colors, after trying everything suggested on the internet, and kept getting different messages. After awhile it would say that different colors were depleted, not just the yellow, even though I had changed all of them. I took them all out, reinserted them, still the same. I was using genuine HP cartridges. HP said it is a hardware malfunction and tried to sell me a new printer.

When I said no to that, they gave me names and addresses of service centers in my area to take it to, at my expense. When I told them I thought they should pay to have it fixed, since I had no way of knowing it had a malfunction until I needed to change the yellow, they said no.
