These blocks are notes, cautions, and warnings, and they are used as follows: This guide discusses the following models: To use a different cord, use only a power source and connection compatible with this monitor. To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment, do not disable the power cord grounding feature. The grounding plug is an important safety feature. To disconnect power from the equipment, unplug the power cord from the power outlet by grasping the plug firmly. Never pull on the cord. Use a power strip whose manufacturer offers a damage replacement policy, so you can replace your equipment if surge protection fails. Look on the power label to determine the ampere rating (Amps or A) for each device. Disconnect the monitor by grasping the plug firmly and pulling it from the outlet. Never disconnect the monitor by pulling the cord. Do not walk on the cord. If your monitor is not operating properly or has been dropped or damaged, contact your Hewlett-Packard authorized dealer, reseller, or service provider. You can substantially increase the life expectancy of the monitor by using a screen saver program and turning off the monitor when not in use. These openings must not be blocked or covered. Never push objects of any kind into cabinet slots or other openings. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. To clean the monitor, follow these steps: These chemicals may damage the monitor. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Never use water to clean an LCD screen. Use a damp cloth to clean the cabinet. Store the packing box. See “Installing the Monitor” in this chapter.

You may need a flat, soft, protected area for placing the monitor screen-down while preparing it for installation. You may need a straight-slot screwdriver to secure some cables. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-ventilated location near your computer. Avoid touching or applying pressure to the LCD screen; doing so can cause damage. Unfold the monitor by lifting it from the top edge of the bezel. Refer to the instructions supplied with the wall-mounting fixture and check that it is capable of supporting the monitor. Use a coin at the base of the plate to pry it loose. These holes are for screws to attach the swing arm or other mounting fixture to the back of the monitor. Some models will include mounting screws in the mounting holes. You will need to remove the screws, position the mounting device, then re-install the screws. To use DVI, you must have a DVI-compliant graphic card. Connectors are located on the back of the monitor. Be sure the computer and monitor are turned off and unplugged. If the monitor has a VGA connector but no DVI connector, use the DVI-to-VGA converter to connect to the computer: Connect the DVI-to-VGA converter to the DVI connector on the computer graphic card, and then connect the VGA cable to the converter and the monitor. You can use this cable only if your computer has a DVI-compliant graphic card installed. The monitor DVI-D connector and cable are included with select models only. The signal from the DVI connector is for video only. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. But this monitor really confirmed I made the right choice.

Pros: Glossy Screen - Coming from an iMac, I love the glossy screen. Yes, at times the glare can be an annoyance, but I think it makes the picture look so much better and brighter. Ports - Comes equipped with all of the most commonly used ports (VGA, DVI, and HDMI) and cables. Well except for an HDMI cable which I don't understand why they wouldn't include one. Thickness - This thing is thin. Not heavy at all. Base is very sturdy and reliable. Hate to compare it to the imac so often, but doesn't shake as much whenever I shake my leg. Glossy finish - This monitor just looks so sexy with the glossy finish. It does collect fingerprints easily but it looks so slick. Cons: No audio jack - I use this monitor to watch cable, play games, and use it for my pc. All of which use HDMI. And hdmi cables transfer both video and sound. So it would have been nice to have an audio jack to plug my speakers into it. But I've found a way around it using rca cables. Would have been nice to have it though instead of having more cables. Buttons - They suck. They are almost flush with the bottom of the monitor. Not a deal breaker, more of an annoyance. All in all, I like it. I can't say I love it because I just switched from an iMac. But I'm definitely happy. The imac was only capable of accepting 720p signals in target display mode (watch cable, and use it for ps3) and now watching tv and playing games on this monitor in 1080p is so amazing. Coming from a previously owner of an imac, I would definitely recommend it. For the price, it really is a score. And if you do buy it. I ordered ikea dioder multicolor lights that I attached on the back of this thing. It looks phenomenal. Youtube ikea dioder multicolor lights. Some things that I've noticed were that the base plate scratches pretty easily. Dust magnet. Doesn't get to hot after hours of use.

And also another thing somewhat major, I read somewhere on a product description, not sure if it was here, but it said that this monitor is great for wall mounting because of it's slim design. The monitor came with no wall mount and it is not VESA wall mount capable. The picture posted is someone improvising a wall mount. I don't know if I want to risk attempting to put in a mount because it is so thin. But just an FYI. The first monitor had shadowy waves in the top left half where the light source emits from. I called Amazon's help line and they immediately had a replacement unit sent to me by overnight, it took 2 days because it was too late to ship that day. DO NOT CALL HP like some reviewers have, CALL AMAZON THEY ARE WONDERFUL. I used the defective one for those days until the new unit arrived. I then boxed up and returned that one to Amazon with their prepaid return label. NO COST TO ME. I have been using the new one for about 10 days now and so far so good. No issues, it's a bright clean display. Only downfall would be that it has a small reflection problem but I'm willing to deal with it for the price and size of the monitor. In summary, I recommend the monitor after using it. HP needs better quality assurance. Amazon is wonderful and I make almost all major purchases through them after researching elsewhere. If you order it and it's defective, remember to call Amazon, not HP. Please try again later. From the United StatesI figured this would be perfect for my needs. Upon arrival of the monitor, I was disappointed to see it does not include a VESA 100mm rear mount. The online user manual DOES state this monitor supports wall and swing-arm mounts with an HP adapter. HOWEVER, that adapter doesn't exist anywhere other than the manual. Again, I was a bit disappointed, but not deterred given the video quality, size, weight, and PRICE.

The inability to adjust the height of the stand was another disappointment, but given the light-weight of the monitor, I'm happy enough with setting it on a box. I also wanted to angle it slightly downward and found the mount offered a minimal range of movement. Ok, so now it's a box and a small mint tin to set my preferred viewing angle. (Still thinking about the screen size, image quality, weight vs PRICE. I'm still happy.) 6 months after my purchase, it suddenly stopped working. I thought it very odd, since the OSD seemed to work, but no signal was detected on my HDMI port. I tried a DVI cable and still no signal. I'd rather not deal with lengthy phone calls to try and file a warranty claim, but if this is already happening within 6 months of purchase, I don't know what else might fail by the end of the year. Other reviewers have stated additional quality issues with color shift and large blackout spots. So, I will be looking to replace it under warranty AND I'm lowering my expectations from the exceptional quality, durability, and flexibility of the older HP monitors. Please try again later. Please try again later. Any Hill 5.0 out of 5 stars Beside size, I also need good contrast ratios. Text shows up clearer on this one than the NEC MultiSync which I got about 5 years ago (none of the other 4 monitors which I got in the last 5 years were as good as the NEC Multisync), so I am pleased with this HP 2711. However, like all the other monitors I have, the contrast control does not seem to do its job. When you lower the contrast, everything goes dimmer, the darker color text as well as the lighter background. Conversely, when you increase the contrast, everything goes brighter, more or less like the brightness control If anyone knows a monitor with real working contrast button, I would be very delighted to know. Anyway, since all monitors seem to have the same problem with contrast, I cannot lower my rating from a 5 to a 4.Please try again later.

Please try again later. The screen is high gloss, like plate glass. Reflects everything in the office. I feel like I'm looking in a mirror. My office is not that bright, either. No overhead flourescent lights, etc. Have to say I am really disappointed in this monitor. Actually prefer the Viewsonic monitor that this is replacing. Bummer. All of that having been said, the display is brilliant. Excellent clarity and sharpness. I ordered a (costly!) 3M filter to deal with the reflection issue. Initial rating was one star. Upgrading to four based on image quality. Be advised, this is not a good choice for a windowed or brightly lit office. Please try again later. Please try again later. J. Christensen 5.0 out of 5 stars I installed and color calibrated it today, and I've never had such a good look at my photos. This is going to help a lot with retouching using my aging eyeballs. On top of that, Amazon Prime delivered the thing a day early (bought it Saturday delivered Monday), double-boxed, and in perfect condition. I don't normally give 5 stars, but this deal is just too good to hold back. Sure I would have preferred a 2560x1440 panel, but this is a great deal if you can live with 1920x1080.Please try again later. Please try again later. bluemax 3.0 out of 5 stars I tested the 2711x alongside my current 2709m monitor, to compare them visually. I realize a lot of visual preference is subjective, but here is my take. The HP 2711x seemed brighter in general, but the 2709m looked better as far as balanced colors in movies.skin tones, the shade of blue. For some reason, I had trouble calibrating the color in the 2711x to match it.it just looked off. I could never get the blues to look right. Also, with the LED in the 2711x, at least the one I bought, there was a blue glow at the bottom of the screen, which was annoying when watching movies. I did not have this blue glow with the 2709m. The black level in the 2709m was better to my eyes, more even.

The 2711x seemed to have a blue tint to the black.and just wasn't as dark as I was expecting with changing over to an LED. It was the main reason I wanted to switch. The 2711x definitely is lighter, and thinner.and produces less heat, but in the end, I want to be happy with my image. I think if I wanted to upgrade at all from what I have, I'd have to go to an IPS panel, and spend a lot more money. I'm going to stick with my 2709, and return the 2711x. My current use for the monitor is games, movies, and some photoshop work. The colors just looked better to me in the 2709. I hope this helps somebody, but this is my subjective opinion. Please try again later. Please try again later. atari400 5.0 out of 5 stars However, the 2511x did not seem too much of an upgrade so I returned it for the 2711x. All I can say is wow. The screen is bright and very crisp via HDMI. Due to the higher resolution of the 2711x vs my older w2207 you can fit more information on the screen. Spreadsheets are easy to see and you can view way more cells. Picture editing is a breeze as they are so large and lifelike. As for gaming, Everquest and Rift are beautiful and the size adds to the depth of the games. I can highly recommend this monitor to anybody looking to upgrade to a larger display. Please try again later. Please try again later. Sandy 5.0 out of 5 stars Bright picture, great size, no dead pixels. I'm curious how the price has changed. I thought electronics generally trended toward becoming cheaper, so I was surprised when I saw the new price. Thankfully I'm not in the market for a monitor because this one works just fine. If you are in the market for a monitor I can recommend it, but for some reason the price is too high now. Please try again later. Please try again later. johnmo 5.0 out of 5 stars It's very thin, which is very nice since I have a small desk in my apartment. I really wanted the glossy screen which is hard to find on most monitors I looked at in stores.

The gloss just makes colors pop out so much more. Connecting was a breeze, I liked that the ports are on the back of the monitor and not under it which always made it a challenge in the past. My only complaint is that the resolution is 1920 by 1080,which seems a bit low for a monitor this size BUT everything is easier to read. In short, if you're thinking of purchasing a monitor this size, this is the one you want. Has DVI, VGA, and HDMI so you could use it as a TV if you connected a cable box with HDMI to it.Please try again later. Please try again later. D 4.0 out of 5 stars With that said this monitor comes with one HDMI input and your standard DVI and that one other input that I can't even remember the name of. I mainly use this monitor with my PS3 and it has served me well although I did notice some screen bleeding in the lower right hand side of the screen. Im not a picky person and you can only notice it when your looking down at the monitor. If you want a monitor that will work great and is decently priced then look no further that the HP 2711x.Please try again later. Please try again later. BinaryMonKey 5.0 out of 5 stars I saw some people complaining that it has no speakers. You buy a monitor not speakers, this isn't a tv, anyway you'd want surround sound with a nice screen like this so you can enjoy the games and movies. Please try again later. Please try again later.
