But once you get the hang of it it's fine. It also vibrates around a bit while it pops, so you need to use a towel under it. My Granddaughter loves it. I would buy it again.Weve used it multiple times since. It works great! The only issues are it gets hot (which is common sense) it also throws a bunch of kernels out when you fill it up like your suppose to. I just put less in and then let it cool off then use it again. I really like it as the radio works, the digital clock display is in red and I can see it in the dark, and there is a cute slice of lemon that lights up when one flicks a switch at the back of the clock. This clock which I bought from an Australian seller runs on electricity but you just put in a battery to keep the clock going when the electricity goes off.It is easy to operate with flower shaped buttons to set the current time and you use the slider to set and activate the alarm. You can wake up to radio (not loud either) or to a buzzer, and there is a Snooze function, so you can set the radio to play for up to 2 hours, to send you to sleep. There are plenty of these clock-radios for sale on ebay at reasonable prices. The lid warps, once this happens it no longer fits the bowl and allows the kernels to escape the bowl becoming lodged under the microwave turntable. On the plus side, clean up is easy, quality of the popcorn is very good. I like the flexibility in that you can load the popcorn with oil and seasoning or pop it with nothing added, very good feature. This would be a 5 star produce for sure if only the lid were of good quality. Unfortunately this is not the case. Worse yet I have not been able to locate replacement lids. Come on Nordic Ware, get with the program. Thank you! But it was fattening and expensive. Now I found a device that I can make my own microwave popcorn that is as good OR even better than movie theatre popcorn. Attached are the front and back of it that I bought at Walmart. But, I have one problem: the edges that fit into the groove are starting to splay out and so the lid starts to slide off the top. Some people are referring to this as warping. Maybe I had a defective lid because I don't think this should be happening so soon. Would love to know where I can obtain another lid, instead of buying a new popcorn popper. My wife and I have made some awesome popcorn in our microwave.We eat a lot of popcorn. We love dry popcorn. But we do add some melted butter on our popcorn after it has been popped to perfection. You can add some oil if you prefer too ! It starts to discolor almost right away, likely from the heat. The lower part gets very hot, especially on the bottom, where if you are not careful you can get burned. Popping takes heat. The lid does not. We have had this maybe a year and the lid finally split. Many stores no longer sell this item. Is this the reason? Disappointing. We would be happy to send a replacement as this should not happen.Every once in a while it will pop all. But most of the time, it pops just half. I've tried the product in 3 different microwaves with the same result. What is the trick to getting a full container? This should not happen with our poppers but once in a great while this issue does come up. We suggest raising the popcorn popper in the microwave by placing a plate upside down and setting the popper on top. Or have it off center on the turntable. We also recommend not using the popcorn setting on their microwave as it can cause the kernels to cook unevenly. Always cook at full power. Thank you! Bought the Nordic about 5 months ago. It does an excellent job of popping, but the corners on the lid have turned up slightly and the lid slides over while popping which allows kernels and popcorn into the microwave. I put about two-thirds of a cup of kernels in (yes it overflows but but my dog loves popcorn too. I also use a little oil and salted butter for flavour. 3 mins 10secs in an 1,100 watt microwave.My husband has one for his office and his apartment(he works away from Home). We have one for home and one for our camper. It takes a bit of time to figure out the best length of time to run it in the microwave.

Just listening for the popping to stop does not always produce good results. We have scorched a batch or two. But the unit does clean up well and the smell is gone after washing in the sink. Just purchased another one for a friend's birthday. She loves it. I dropped one on a tile floor and broke it. I wore one out.the lid got too warped and the inside was just too stained up.,,so I treated myself to a new one. Have used a Nordic popcorn popper for many years, my newest one for just a few months and never an issue.When people ask I always recommend this one. My only disappointment is the additional 30% charge when shipped to Canada. But even with that additional cost a reliable and consistent item for making great popcorn. My only caution is, if you aren't sure of the popping time, be sure that you underestimate, rather than over estimate, the popping time. Microwaves are not uniform, and neither is popcorn. Underestimate, then go in 10 second increments. Listen for those pops. If you over do the cooking time, your beautiful popcorn popper will become stained. Still functional, but visually a little worse for the wear. I liked my first one so much that when it wore out do to years of use, I bought another. Love this popcorn popper! According to the type of microwave you have will determine the time needed to complete popping. I recommend following instruction, but keep in mind, and rule of thumb, if you do not hear a single pop in 3 seconds, turn microwave off because it is done. It may take a few times trying before you get your own method down-pat, but you'll be having the best popcorn you ever had. Also, instead of butter, melting a little coconut oil and drizzling it over the popcorn is a healthy alternative, and absolutely delicious. ENJOY! I melt a little bit of butter, cook the popcorn as in the directions, pour the bit of butter (just enough to taste like butter - about 2 tsp), and a little bit of salt. Popcorn nirvana. Better even than in a pan on the stove. Fabulous. Now on my 3 popper. It makes the best popcorn, and it's healthy. I recommend this item highly. The Nordicware is superior to all the other poppers. Very few unpopped kernels.
