Harness the power of the Brainiacs! It came without software (ie.

I've tried various sources, including a signal generator in all its modes, and there's just nothing. If I turn on router bypass, I instantly get a picture (input 1 gets connected to PGM1 and input 8 gets connected to PGM2), but of course, that's not useful for production, of course. I've tried all the different settings for “SHOW RECLOCKMODE” (including auto, of course), with and without “SET AUTOTIME 1” afterwards, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas. If you PM me with an email address, I can share it with you. Router Works, if I remember correctly, hasn't been used since about the X-plus series. Are you intending to use this instead of a hardware control panel? Jeff I guess I can't turn it off. A curious fact: The aux-es actually let 3G-SDI through, even though the router only understands HD-SDI, so I guess they're pretty purely electrical. (All my other testing is with HD-SDI signals, of course.) And yes, I don't intend to use a hardware control panel, just software. Will PM you; thanks! I've never tried it. If it's like the Evertz Xenon, if you remove the clean switch module, you need to replace it with a passive board to complete the signal path. I'm not surprised that the aux outputs pass 3G, at least with reclocking turned off. This was a pretty advanced little box at the time. Much of the design team that came up with the Panacea (and the X-Plus and Integrator series that came before) found themselves out of a job in the wake of the transitions from Leitch to Harris, and then from Harris to Imagine. Ross Video managed to get most of them together again, and I understand that they did much of the design work behind the Ross Ultrix: just about the sweetest router I've ever used. This box replaced nearly two racks full of older gear. Jeff I was a bit surprised to find that Router Mapper was just some kind of setup tool; you couldn't actually set up switching with it.

But the Clean Switch module (hidden under some right-click module, I had to consult the manual) told me something very interesting; it turns out 720p50 isn't supposed to be a supported reclocking target.I found the manuals online, but I can't find a download link for RouterMapper, Navigator or any othere software that can be used to configure the unit. I need a copy of the software, maybe somebody can help me. Learn more - opens in a new window or tab This amount is subject to change until you make payment. Citations (72) References (2) Abstract This paper addresses the use of metaphors in creating public representations of biotechnology in the United Kingdom's leading quality press. Metaphors referring to biotechnology and its applications have been analyzed in press articles covering the period 1973-1996. The paper describes how metaphors can be used to popularize complex technical information while at the same time providing a highly charged message about the technology itself. The analysis draws conclusions about the content and general direction of the debate on biotechnology during the past three decades. Scientific advances are sometimes represented as cracking a code. This rather diffuse scenario is, of course, a staple of reports about complex issues such as the genome (Liakopoulos, 2002), but is here applied to less abstruse science-related questions.

Links to the supernatural, to religion or magic, have been previously documented in media science reporting, particularly in the area of biotechnology and genetics (Liakopoulos, 2002). As Liakopoulos (2002) has emphasised, the imagery surrounding particular scientific topics tends to stabilise and consolidate over time. However, little is known about the process through which sober scientific research is transformed into colourful or even sensational news. Most of the metaphor scenarios seem to arise first in the press release, but these are considerably extended and embellished by the other media. Only occasionally are new metaphor scenarios engaged, which reflect societal discourses concerning science and nutrition. View Show abstract. Issues such as genetically modified food, manufacturing and pharmaceutical license, cloning, questions about health risks, social consequences and moral acceptability, among others, affect and are affected by individuals and companies. In this sense, it becomes crucial to analyze the public attitudes regarding to science as these are related to the changing context of scientific practices and their implications for practical problems. Thus, we developed a survey instrument that allowed us to assess the causal relationships and correlations between conceptions, attitudes and socio-demographic factors in relation to science, using as a mediator theme the genetic engineering. Among the socio-demographic factors are included: gender, age, income, religion, schooling, consumption of information provided by the media, perception of knowledge and personal experience. For the composition of the sample, students from various undergraduate courses from public and private institutions were selected. The data were analyzed quantitatively by structural equation modeling. The results show that the conceptions that people have about science directly and positively influence their attitudes towards science.

The social factors have their weight, but on a much smaller scale. These media reports have been rife with metaphors. Liakopoulos (2002) examined the recent history of the representation of biotechnology in the late twentieth century. His study analyzed the British print media over a twenty-four year period to categorize the types of metaphors used to discuss genetic research... Media reports employing this metaphor have often depicted people as being programmed by their genes. The purpose of this study is to look at the NFL’s failure in Europe from a public relations (PR) point of view. After reviewing 490 news and industry trade press articles in the U.S. and Europe from 1987 to 2009, we found that power over relations relying upon the NFL’s economic and capitalistic hegemony prevented creating healthy relationships with publics. Theoretical and methodological implications are also discussed. The most frequently employed category is that representing technoscience as an activity extending the frontiers of knowledge. Furthermore, the evolution of the four disciplines is mainly represented as a violent process. Each discipline though, seems to be characterized by combinations of different categories of metaphors. Therefore each discipline evokes different social representations. The subject field of astronomy and astrophysics was chosen because it is one of the most popular scientific fields (Liakopoulos 2002). It is also characterized by its high level of abstraction that makes metaphors a privileged tool to explain its concepts and notions... In section 5, we deal with the methodology developed to identify linguistic metaphors in the source English and the target Arabic texts as well as the identification of metaphor functions in the corpus.

In this section we also see how conceptual metaphors are related to meta-1 Metaphor appears to be a widely used explanatory procedure, as reported in various studies about biology which is one of the scientific fields where most of the studies on metaphor in popular science have been conducted (Brunette and Caignon 2004;Calsamiglia and Van Dijk 2004;Ceccarelli 2004;Christidou et al. 2004;Knudsen 2003Knudsen, 2005Kua et al. 2004;Larson et al. 2005; Liakopoulos 2002; Nelkin 1994;Pramling and Saljo 2007;Williams Camus 2009)..
