When pressing the needle down button, the needle does go down and then comes right back up.Check your tension. Do you have an automatic thread cutter. I had the same problem and it was because my automatic thread cutter was cutting the thread too short. Some how the cutter had gotten bent.I could not tell it, but it was.I put the blade of a flat head screw driver under the cutter and GENTLY bent it back down. Fixed the problem. Works perfectly. Login to post Then turn off the machine and unplug it for the maximum safety. For the top thread, place a spool on the spool pin and guide the thread through one of the two thread guides on the thread guide bar. The thread starts from behind the guide. (The post holding the guide bar is next to the spool pin.) As with most sewing machines, you will work from right to left and lead the thread down then up before going down to the needle. Bring the thread to the next thread guide (in front of the bobbin winding pin) and pass it through one of the holes from the back. Wrap the thread to the back of the guide and then through another of the holes.http://www.e-spawalnik.pl/userfiles/free-toyota-avensis-owners-manual.xml

grand quilter hobby 1200 manual, grand quilter hobby 1200 manual, pfaff hobby 1200 grand quilter manual.

If the thread tension is very loose, try going through all three holes. Bring the thread down between the pre-tension discs going counter-clockwise. Hold the thread in both hands and guide it around down and around the tension dial from right to left. Bring the thread up to get it between the tension discs and behind the tail of the check spring. Bring the thread back down over the loop of the check spring then under the thread guide that looks like an upside down L with a curve in it. Bring the thread up and through the next thread guide. (This guide is horizontal and just above the previous guide and one side ends near the center of the tension dial.) Bring the thread up and pass it through the eye in the thread take-up lever and then back down through the horizontal thread guide above. Slip the thread into the thread guide and then down to the needle bar thread guide. Thread the needle from front to back. The thread should be along the groove in the needle. You can find the manual at Pfaff's Machine Update page. Search for the model and then you'll get to the product page. The direct link to the manual is. The threading section starts on page 21 (page 23 of the PDF). The manual has good pictures that are better than my attempts to describe the guides. I hope this helps. Cindy WellsOur upper thread keeps breaking all the time It may also help to review page 21 (threading). ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the machine. Unfortunately, finding the correct tension is generally a test and adjust method. Be sure you are using a brand new needle and good quality thread..Including Inspira frame. Followed threading plan, replaced needle several times, changed tension as book suggested. Is one available? I also own the Pfaff Hobbyist that did come with. The light comes on, so there is power to the machine but nothing when I press the pedal. I purchased a replacement part, but I am not sure how to repair it.http://www.prestyl.fr/upload/free-toyota-avalon-service-manual.xml

It didn't work, I tried it three times and then the thread jammed below the needle plate. I took of the plate and took the bobbin out and turned the wheel towards me to see if the needle would go down. It will only go now a little ways and then it seems to hit something and stop. I think the timing is off. How can I adjust this? Answer questions, earn points and help others. How would you turn this into a tangle. I also got the Grace NextGen frame with my machine. Perhaps the needle is the incorrect size for the thread you are using. A needle too big or too small for the thread size can cause breakage. I was able to sew a number of practice pieces and an entire queen quilt without a single thread break on mine.

For the quilt, I used YLI invisible thread in the top and Gutterman variegated 100% cotton in the bobbin. For the practice pieces, I was using Gutterman 100% cotton in both, but a different plain color.Do you have a stictch regulator with yours also.Someone there can probably help you. Check the files section before posting, though; there might be a file on thread breakage that you should read before posting.A needle too big or too small for the thread size can cause breakage. There is also one way it needs to be inserted (when you insert it wrong, it breaks the thread) Do you oil it every 2 minutes? (Seems like mine has a healthy appetite for the oil)I am usually not so timid. When ready, it will be FMQ. Don't have any of the pantographs yet.Do you have a stictch regulator with yours also.I've since added a Qbot computerized quilting setup to it. With both the Pfaff GrandQuilter and the Viking MegaQuilter (they are the same exact machine), you must use the HLx5 needles. These are special High-Speed needles made specifically for these types of sewing machines. Your problem with the thread breaking may be due to using the incorrect type needle.I can withdraw my consent at any time by unsubscribing. Thanks. Can you tell me what tension you use for top quilting please. I’ve had the machine for about three years and it was preowned. Everything started working just fine and then all of a sudden I can’t get the tension right. I have bought king tut thread in superior and it just seems like it just doesn’t want to take any thread now it breaks thread off within 3 inches of quilting. Then there are speciality needles like the twin needles. To answer your question, most regular sewing jobs take the size 11 or 12. The larger sizes are for thicker or stiffer materials like dog collars, canvas, upolstry (oops on the spelling.) The HLx5 type are correct for your machine. You just need to determine what fabric you are sewing on. The higher the size number the thicker the material. Hope this helps There are also needles for light weight fabrics like lace and chiffon, with rounded ball tips so that it doesn't pierce the fabric, but works its way between the fibers so as to not cause unsightly holes or runs. Good luck and I do hope this helps you some. A person who repairs machines may be the best person to talk to because they understand how the machines work. I have found and also been told be a machine repair man that the organ needles are excellent needles. Also that they are very well priced on the internet. Good luck and I hope that I have answered your question and have a nice day. For instance, I have a brother and an older Montogmery Ward machine and they both use the Organ needles with one rounded side and one flat side on the needle shaft. If you are not sure about what type of needle your machine uses you can look it up or call a sewing machine shop. I thing you will enjoy that site. Super high amount of views. 46 sold, 37 available. Service manual You are the light of the world. View cart for details. At first, you?ll see an extraordinary quilting machine with lots of great features. Look closer and you'll see much more. No other quilting machine on the market sews faster or has a larger sewing area for your projects. These are the kind of features that make all the difference when you are quilting. One of the most important features on a quilting machine is a large work area. The GrandQuilter? was designed with specific quilting needs in mind. It?s ideal for free-motion quilting. Fast or slow ? you pick the speed with the speed control slider.

Even at the highest speed, the GrandQuilter. The automatic stitch control guarantees perfectly adjusted stitches no matter how thick the fabric. All the stitches are clearly displayed inside the lid, including presser foot recommendations! With just the touch of a button, leave the needle in the fabric for pivoting and material handling. You can raise and lower the presser foot with the knee lift, while your hands stay free to guide your project. A separate motor lets you wind the bobbin while continuing to sew. Winding stops automatically when the bobbin is full. With a touch of a button both the upper thread and bobbin thread are cut. No more searching for the needle's eye. Let the needle threader do the work and start sewing! The stitch regulator is a must have feature. Finally getting to all those unquilted tops. Great machine and frame for the price. I’m still in the “hmmm, I think I could try a flower now” stage. I have a short arm machine (Janome 1600P-DB) on a Little Gracie II frame. When I started using this, it was absolute agony. It didn’t work. I got a mess of thread, or the thread broke, or some other catastrophe happened, so I ignored the monster in my basement for four months. Finally I did some research, asked some questions, and came up with this list. It is not an exhaustive list, so if you have any suggestions to add to it, please let me know. Loosen the bobbin tension a tiny bit at a time until you get this. Load the quilt and sew through a small practice piece (the size of a sheet of paper, but all three layers). Use different colored thread top and bottom so you can see what’s happening. If the top thread pulls through to the bottom, tighten the thread tension. If the bottom thread pulls through to the top, loosen the thread tension. You need at least a 16, preferably an 18 needle for frame quilting. Too small a needle will often lead to thread breakage. It’s important that you get the right needle for your machine.

Check your book for the correct way to insert the needle. If you’re having trouble with thread breaking, it might just be an old or bad needle. The higher the number, the finer the thread. I was able to use my Aurifil 50 thread with a 14 needle until I got the larger needles. If you use 40 or lower thread (I’ve used 28), be sure to use a 16 or 18 needle. You need to try them for yourself to find out what works. You should be able to poke a finger up from the bottom and grip it through the quilt on top. The side clamps are there only to keep it straight, not tight. I’ve even quilted several passes without using the side clamps, and everything worked fine. You should be able to slide a finger under the bar, but that’s about it. You’ll need to adjust this as you get further into the quilt. When you finish one pass, clip the thread, return the carriage to the left side, roll the quilt to the next space, and start again from the left. If you’re having trouble moving one direction, try this. If you’re able to quilt in both directions, don’t worry about it. Some people tape it down, others remove their feed dogs entirely if the machine will only be used for frame quilting. A tiny piece of thread caught in the works will muck up everything. Use a flashlight and a long pair of tweezers and get right down in there to look.If there are any problems, check that your frame is level side to side and front to back. Check that there aren’t any problems with the rollers or rails. You may have to adjust your tension, including bobbin tension. It lists each of the frames, current and past, machine and hand, as well as all of the accessories. Click on the frame or accessory and you will be able to open a PDF of the owner’s manual for that item. Save it to your computer for future reference. If you have a question, please send it via the form on the About Me page and I’ll email you directly. It will hold a king size and we have it set up in our diningroom right now.

My sewing room is under construction so this is easier right now. I am really lucky because both my husband and neighbor are really great at setting things up and they got it level and it works great. I am O.K. at meandering right now and starting to work on using a pantogapgh to follow. I just want to tell you that reading your site was great. Thanks for all of your imput. Monica Boisvert I have quilted in the past but this machine is new to me. I played with one at our local sew ctr and liked it very much. My only concern is the distance between the needle and frame (9in)of machine.I failed to ask these questions while I was there and I find it better to ask someone who has done this already. The “bottom” part (the backing, top and batting that has NOT been quilted) will all be rolled onto the top bar. The “top” part that has been quilted will roll onto one of the other bars. Roll it back so you are in the middle where you left off, then work backward, unrolling it from the top bar for each pass. Could you please contact me at the email address above. You could put something on the frame to keep the machine from rolling forward and backward. It would be fairly easy to sew a straight line left to right. You’d have to take the quilt off and reload it sideways to sew the “up and down” lines. By turning the quilt, they would be sewn left to right. You could also try using a thick template, but you need a special kind of foot to work with the template. I am the new owner of a used Sturdy-Lite frame and want better leaders than what the previous owner gave me (muslin). Thanks in advance! What thread do you use and are you also unable to sew other previous stitching as in loop designs.Yes, I also splurged for the stitch regulator. Your checklist is great. More help with the machines is at this yahoo group The most important advice is to practice, practice and then practice more. It is wonderful once you can just tell what is up by the sound of your machine.

I couldn’t get the machine to work in the frame. The bobbin would come out in bunches, or the top thread would snap. After reading this, I just finished quilting my first quilt. Thank you so much for putting this on line. I can’t find a lever to do that. The instruction manual is not good at all and I need to talk to somebody that has experience with this set up. I’d appreciate any ideas or tips. It may have come with a metal cover that you can place over them, otherwise you can just tape an index card over them. I only use mine on the frame and I don’t need the feed dogs at all, so I removed them. There was no leaver to lower the feed dogs. Try that! I did have the plate that covers the feed dogs. I bought bigger needles and am going to give it another go. I’ll let you know how it goes. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. As I have 5 quilts to do before Christmas, otherwise like the maching they will just sit there till whenever! Hope you get it all straightened out soon! I have problem with the thread it does not break it just is really long stitches and then it skips altogether and times the needle seems to stick in the fabric have done free motion on my bernina but not on a frame this also has a sure stitch regulator dont know what to do with the little wheel on theoutside of frame it looks like it is attached to the upper carriage but wont stay there keeps falling off.Practice is the key I also took my stitch reagulator off. I am really doing good. My stitch regulator was creating the mess. Also make sure ur quilt is rolled the correct way. YES I did that to. It made it skip really long stitches.I love this blog!! Chrissy How did you make your leaders. Are your stitches the same size. Did you buy panels to practies with? Jutta I made my leaders with muslin fabric. Do u still have the book on ur frame. It will have the insructions. If not give me ur e-mail and I will copy for u.

I have a Grace speed controlI it replaces the foot pedal, it doesnt regulate the stich u just regulate yourself. I have my tention set about a3. My neighboro had came over and loosened my bobbin the stitch was stil not right, So I tighntened my bobbin and it has worked perfect. Once u get it,,, OH my its fun. Like I said I have instructions for the leaders if u want it. Thanks Chrissy If u give me ur e-mail I will swnd u the instructions for the leaders. It is so much better. Thanks Chrissy I wish I could just return mine. You will love the leaders. Let me knoe how it goes.Do you find that your rail plates bend. I had a quilt on mine yesterday and the quilt rods (what you roll the fabric and batting) on bent something terrible. So that really takes away from the room you have to quilt in. Then your bent rail would not be in the quilting space. You could also contact the manufacturer and find out about a replacement rail (or rails, if they’re all bad). I haven’t had a problem with the rails on my Little Gracie II bending, even when the (darn!) cats think that a loaded quilt makes a great hammock.I thought that would get u by until u get more(if u do). Let me know how much they cost if u replace. Thanks The stitch regulator must be running on the platform rims to work correctly otherwise you get missed stitches and inconsistent length. I am really interested in how to make the leaders. Do you just attach the leaders to the rail using the tubing.I too wish I got something with a longer throat. Does anyone know of a good instructional DVD for beginning machine quilters. I have looked all over the internet for some free info but not much luck. They’re made of pillow ticking because it’s a little stronger, and it has lines that make lining up the quilt much easier. My mom made the leaders based on the dimensions provided in the documentation that came with my frame.
