This book has other useful information and I use both sources frequently. It is a durable spiral bound printing and well worth the investment.This book has a flimsy paper cover and was placed in the bottom of the box with sever other items in the box. At a minimum the book should have been placed in a plastic bag or some other form of protection because the flimsy paper cover came torn in several places and it won't be long without mending that it will likely fall off. The content is great and updated to reflect the latest generation of Glocks. The cover should have been made of a heavier plastic to protect the content pages. If you are going to use a metal spiral binding please improve the cover materiel. This is why I deducted a star in my rating.I purchased it for the complete teardown and buildup instructions and was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the information the book contains. It does not have the latest Glock pistols, the 42 (.380) or the long slide.45 (Model 41) but it covers the rest nicely. I enjoyed learning about the safe action trigger which I had read about in other places but the appropriate photos in the book allowed me to fully understand. If you own Glock pistols this book and Glock: The Rise of America's Gun are the two books I would recommend.There were detailed descriptions on breaking down the glock and the tools needed. If you are a glock owner, this guide will be very helpful if you are interested in doing some maintenance and upgrades on your own. I gave it 4 stars because both my glocks are gen 4's and this guide doesn't include information on these newer glocks.
Although the basic handgun hasn't changed, there are some differences that I'm sure will be addressed in a newer edition.It has GREAT photos (larger than actual size and no background clutter,) as well as, easy to follow text. I especially enjoyed the first chapter regarding Glock's history, design, manufacturing, models, and other interesting information. As of this date, it does NOT include Gen 4 guns. I am pleased with this purchase and will be better able to care for my three Glock models.Great photos with detailed instructions you can’t go wrong. While it may not be as easy to handle as the 19, the Glock 23 uses.40 caliber pistol ammunition, offering much more stopping power. As a no-nonsense gun, the stock sights do the job well enough, but I’d definitely recommend getting some aftermarket sights, especially if you plan to be able to use the firearm in low-light situations. This gun will shoot basically anything you put in it without any complaints. That seems in line with all the other Glocks I’ve owned and used throughout the years, so I’m not surprised in the least. In any case, time will tell, and so far Glock’s pistols have stood the test of time. The sights are easy to line up, and the plain, no-nonsense design of the pistol makes it easier to grip and handle. It doesn’t include a manual safety, which is part of its design as a defense weapon. At the end of the day, the best safety is one’s own situational awareness and discipline. While not as simple as an ambidextrous release, this feature is still nice for the southpaws out there. It measures 7.36” x 5.04” x 1.26” overall, with the Glock’s “signature” boxy shape. This makes it more suitable for concealed carry, while maintaining the accuracy and stopping power of a full pistol. This made it harder for me to quickly line up the sights after a shot, and it took some getting used to.
