I took it home and tried it, and although it appears to be working very well there. Berner 3.0 out of 5 stars First off, in order to adjust the brush height, the vaccuum must be unplugged. Again, you can not change the roller-brush height unless the vaccum is unplugged. When inserting the the AA filter bags press the paper flaps over the hole opening all the down and make sure the hole is fully opened before inserting the bag. One time I did not do this and the bag began to spew out dirt. Lastly, there are two filters that should be cleaned or replaced at the changimg of each filter bag. I have cleaned the filters by banging on them outdoors and then return them to the vaccuum. These filters continue to work fine.I was a Kirby Vacuum Representative decades ago, those vacuums weighed a ton. This vacuum is light weight, rarely needs maintence and picks up even dust. The flter can be removed and washed by hand with a small delicate brush.At first the vacuum seemed fine, in fact a really great value for the price, so my fiance bought another one for his mother. BIG MISTAKE. Don't be fooled into buying this like we were, especially if you have any animals in your home. The vacuum is constantly getting clogged with pet hair and overheats, then the motor stops working altogether. Whenever this happens, I have to remove the cover and manually pull out the pet hair and dust from the tube. What a nuisance! Last week I bought a baglass Hoover windtunnel, actually two, because I was so happy with the performance. It doesn't suck very well and you have to take the whole thing apart to unblock a blockage which happens quite often. Finaly last week to my morbid relif if gave up on me. So I got to buy a new vacuum and and very happy with it.Not fabulous but as dutiful as any other house vacuums i've used. It does a good job in my living room (carpet) and kitch (hard floor), and it also picks up spilled sand from my cat's litter box quite well. I doubt if the people complaining it won't pick up popcorn kernel actually had it powered on.Now I'm in a place that doesn't have a carpet shedding problem and the clogging is as bad as ever (even after time consuming clearing of the system every time I use it). I hate to throw things out - especially since the motor still runs well - but this has to go.This is a powerful vacuum with very handy attachments.
