I almost never use the data, relying on the free wifi that's almost everywhere in European hotels, cafes, and restos these days. Some cities even have city wide wifi. The Telestial website only gives sales information, and there is no way to contact customer service to resolve problems or look up information, you have to do that through the sim card activated phone and it is chargeable, as are many other phone service activities you would not associate with being chargeable. I normally use a UK Tesco sim card in my spare unlocked GSM phone for my foreign travel, the Telestial sim card experience is very poor in comparison. Please try again later. WHEN I was able to get connected to a local carrier the call back feature worked flawlessly for me. I called customer support (on Skype) and they were very helpful. For example, the phone could be called on the U.K. number successfully, but the U.S. number would go to voice mail. Voice quality was always superb. No complaints at all on that end. If you are aware of the limitations, it can be a very useful, economical service. But, don't expect bullet-proof perfection. Please try again later. Please try again later. Spoony Lee Dugone 4.0 out of 5 stars I did't see that anywhere in the instructions. Once I figured that out, it was no problem to make calls. I'm recommending this to others. So we'll see if she can run it!Please try again later. Please try again later.First stop was the UK. There was a glitch with checking voice mail but it turned out to be how my phone was set up not Telestial - don't know why I didn't think to try it in the US. My friend suggested checking the carrier and we switched the phone to TurkCell which is the prime carrier in Turkey rather than the carrier automatically selected through the phone. Problem solved and great reception everywhere although it is a bit strange to have a callback when you place a call. This may be the solution to the problem mentioned by other reviewers where their phone is not working in a country - try a different carrier - under Settings on your phone go to Network Selection then select Manual to see if other carriers are available to try. Back in the US again - worked great with the automatic carrier selection. Rates charged matched exactly what was listed on Telestial's website. Incoming calls and text were free and outbound call rates billed matched the rates given. Regular communication was through the internet. Note that even if your call is only 20 seconds, you are charged in full 1 minute increments.http://akkoryazilim.com/userfiles/daikin-intelligent-manager-iii-manual.xml

Check the rates to determine if the Passport or Passport-Lite option is best for your use. I'll be using this sim card for future travels. Please try again later. Please try again later. Kindle Customer 3.0 out of 5 stars I installed the card on an old iPhone 4 gsm unlocked. But. when I called Telestial to get the US number I was told the card was their newer one and they don't have US numbers available yet. Customer Service has been easy to get hold of so far. So if you are travelling in August, and need the US number, I'd avoid this card. Please try again later. Please try again later. Haysnooze 4.0 out of 5 stars Went to several cities (some of which were relatively small, maybe 25k population) and it worked great. I didn't have to do anything special to get it to work (used it with LG A275). I didn't use it much, made one outgoing call, received one text message, and received calls a few times, but had a strong signal everywhere I visited. If you plan on using your cell phone a lot in a single country, buying a local sim card is the way to go. But, if you are visiting multiple countries, don't plan on using many minutes (especially dialing out), and want the convenience of having a US phone number, this is the way to go.Please try again later. Please try again later. d.boss 1.0 out of 5 stars After running and testing the card in the States, I thought everything would be good in Europe too. However, when I tried to use it in Holland, Croatia, Bosnia and Germany the calling would not work. The text messaging showed as it worked (sent successfully), but in reality my messages had not been delivered. When I was back in the States, the calls were working again. Overall, this product did not deliver the functionality I paid for, at all. Spent my money for nothing! Please try again later. Please try again later.Ordered a replacement SIM card to access the credits I had had on the old card just before leaving on an overseas trip.

This became a big mistake since the card was defective, and we did not have time to reorder before the trip. Don't forget to check the chip when you get it and leave enough time if you need to reorder. Ended up buying a country card when we landed at our destination, but still have an unused credit. Please try again later. Please try again later. Patriotic freedom lover 3.0 out of 5 stars Service worked great in D.R. This year was traveling on a cruise to Bermuda. Did not work at all in Bermuda, I could not make a call through Alcatel service (carrier in Bermuda). I was able to make calls from the cruise ship. Will probably look for another SIM card next time I am going out of the country. Please try again later. Please try again later. If you ordered a SIM card, you will receive the above (excluding the Phone, Travel Charger and Phone Instruction Manual) and you will need to insert the SIM card into your own phone. How to install a SIM card How to install a SIM card New phone batteries should be charged for 8-12 hours the first time to ensure the battery is fully charged. If you enter your PIN incorrectly 3 times, your phone will be blocked. You must then enter the PUK code to unblock the phone. Contact Customer Service if you require assistance. Italy Hotels Things to do Restaurants Flights Vacation Rentals Shopping Vacation Packages Cruises Rental Cars Travel Forum Airlines Best of 2020 Road Trips Help Center All forums I am looking at getting one or maybe something similar that includes data as we are moving through many countries in a short time. Just wanted to know if anyone has done the same and has feedback. Activation was super easy and it worked much of the time in the UK, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Sometimes it did not work even if the signal was strong and everyone else's phones worked. Given the way your connection is dynamically bounced around from carrier to carrier (that's how their service operates), it's to be expected.

You are supposed to make a call or send a text every 3 months in order to keep your account active. It does not always work. Records of your texts don't always hit their system, so they do not always see that the account is being used. I lost my entire remaining balance and will need to buy a new SIM card in order to recover it. Besides, for what this company charges for voice and text service, you can get more voice, more text AND data at a much lower overall rate. I bought an Ekit phone card and installed it in a newly purchased unlocked Nokia phone. I also bought credit for making calls in the USA and Europe. On arrival in LA there was no signal. This was a critical time for me and I had no choice but to pay for another phone and simcard from another company. When I contacted Ekit they blamed me for the failure of service alleging my Nokia phone was not compatible with USA phone networks (but fine in Europe apparently). Ekit does not warn its customers of these complications. They represented to me that their simcard would work in an unlocked phone, and when it did not work in my unlocked Nokia phone they instantly blamed me and refused to refund my money. I bought an Ekit simcard because it was promoted by Flight Centre, a large and reputable company with which I have had many past dealings. I will not be using Flight Centre again while they continue to be associated with Ekit. The phone did not recognize the card. The same phone I used last year. I arrived home last week and decided to upgrade to a quad band 2 sim card smart phone. The Ekit card was not recognize by this phone. I called ekit and they said that because I had obtained the Card several years ago on Ebay, I would need to contact them. However, Ekit sent me a new card last March, that had no record of this. They also recommended I get a third phone to try the card in. I actually did not know the cards had a warranty. A little printed circuit card like a SIM should last about forever!

I put it into a Nokia Lumia 635 (ATT unlocked). Worked fine. Traveled to Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France and Netherlands. Switched between service providers without a problem. Worked fine for both incoming and outgoing calls to the US number. I bought a Jt smart phone from them and sim card. I was new to smart phones, and it came with data turned on. I burnt through my minutes almost immediately in the US, and they wouldn't refund me the money even though I asked how I was supposed to know data was turned on. In general, on the two trips, I had some success texting, and very little calling. Left data turned off. I ended up buying a basic Samsung phone and local sim cards in France and England. That has its own problems, but I had far fewer issues once the sim cards were installed and minutes loaded. In general, with ekit I seemed to have trouble connecting to a network inside a building. In France and England, even when I was connected, it would do its call back thing to me when I dialed a number, but when I answered it was dead silent on the other end. I sent multiple emails to their Help folks, since I couldn't call them on the phone. None of their suggestions got the thing working reliably. I would never try one of their sim cards again, and the JT smartphone itself was really pretty cheap and junky. I bought a basic Samsung for 12 euros in France. I would like to try another of the international sims, because it was a hassle, especially in France, getting a local sim. It was easier in England, but I still had problems 'topping off' the sim which I purchased in the grocery store for a pound. However, the next international sim I try will not be an ekit one. This may have come about recently as I did call to canada a few years ago. Found that TXT messages I sent were not getting delivered and so was totally unusable in that way. Also found that outgoing calls would sometimes simply not work, and people said they had trouble ringing me. Customer service has always been helpful, quick and extremely efficient. (No I am not an employee as previously stated by another reviewer!) I actually let the previous card lapse and Ekit sent me another free of charge for this trip. Never any problems changing countries or reception. It’s an exciting time of making new friends and connections but it shouldn’t interfere with your existing relationships back home. It can be difficult to anticipate the needs you’ll have internationally, so here is some information to help guide you. The central benefit of it is that your family will still be able to call a local number at no extra charge, and if you are still locked into a contract you won’t have to pay any cancellation fees. However, this will also limit you in terms of local contact (you’ll need a way to keep in contact with all your new friends) and you will be heavily charged for international roaming. It stands for Subscriber Identity Module and is a phone chip that identifies and stores your number and information so that it can be removed from a device; and this can often be a great option for bridging countries. First you will need to locate a handset with a removable SIM.

Because roaming and carrier-switching due to roaming is not as prevalent as it is in Europe and the UK, many phones will be “locked” meaning you cannot remove the SIM card and swap it with another because the SIM is actually integrated into the battery. If you talk to your provider, they will definitely point you to quad band and unlocked phones. This has to be quad-band (see below) so that you can pick up wireless signal anywhere in the world and unlocked. To check if your phone already is, remove the battery cover and locate a small plastic rectangle that appears as though one corner has been snapped off. If this is a sticker on the battery, your phone is locked. If it is a piece of plastic that you can slide in and out, you’re good to go. Most likely at time of purchase you will have a SIM card from the phone carrier with your American cell phone number attached to it. If you do not have one, call your carrier and ask them to provide you with one. Read the section above if you are unsure what carrier to go with. When you reach your destination country, choose a provider (read the section below to determine a carrier). You will be able to buy the SIM separately from the phone in Europe, usually with only a “top-up”, or deposit into a pay as you go account. Because you are unlike to have credit history or need for a contract in your destination country, pay as you go is the most sensible idea. During the day, it is most likely that you will want to be a text away from your friends, but to get the most out of the two-card system, set a schedule that most family and friends will be aware of to contact you. You can never use both SIM cards at once, so you will have to manually switch back and forth between cards. Most phones are going toward quad band status, so more are available than ever before.

“Quad band” means that it operates on four different bands; different sections of the world broadcast cell phone signal on different frequencies, or bands and a quad band will cover all four offered globally. If you’re not sure about your cell phone, go to your cell phone provider’s website; all of the major carriers have lists of phones that are supplied by their company and internationally compatible. Most students get a pay as you go phone; despite the fact that contract phones are much more cost effective immediately, is unlikely that you will able to get one (you aren’t likely to have a viable credit history in your destination country) and most have minimum contracts of eighteen months now. This option does mean your family has to call long distance to contact you, but it is the most effective for local contact. You can even often buy them online if you have internet access. Most phones will come with an accompanying SIM card so you do not have to buy it separately, but it can still be removed. T-Mobile is a massive carrier, as are Vodafone and O2. Also, wait a day or two before you buy; it is worth asking someone who goes to your university or lives in your dorm what providers have worked out for them because this will give you the best idea of local coverage. Keep that in mind when choosing a phone and a provider (though most rates are fairly competitive on pay as you go). Most major U. S. providers have an “international” service you can add for a fee. This expense will usually cost less than using your phone without it. Check with your provider! Short trips will be best managed by swallowing the roaming costs on your pay as you go. Vonage, for example, is a great option; if you buy a Vonage unit in the states and register it with a local phone number, you can then carry it overseas and connect it to an internet connection. It creates a very cheap way to talk to family and friends with a local home number.

This incurs no additional charges on either you or your friends and family calling you, despite the fact that your US number is now overseas. Skype also offers a cheap VOIP option, with only your computer and a microphone as the additional required equipment. Both are great options to consider.
