Page Count: 34 It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks. (b) Do not place any object between the front face of the oven and the door or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces. (c) Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the oven door close properly and that there is no damage to the 1) Door (bent or dented), 2) Hinges and latches (broken or loosened), 3) Door seals and sealing surfaces. (d) The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel. J WARNING Always observe Safety Precautions when using your oven. Never try to repair the oven on your own - there is dangerous voltage inside. If the oven needs to be repaired, call 1-800-843-0304 U. S. A, 1-866-587-2002 CANADA for the name of an authorized service center near you. Connect only to properly grounded outlets. Do not use corrosive chemicals or vapors in this appliance. This type of oven is specifically designed to heat, cook, or dry food.If the door is opened, the fire may spread. IMPORTANT GROUNDING This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electrical current. This appliance is equipped with a cord that includes a grounding wire and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded. Plug the three-prong power cord into a properly grounded outlet of standard 115-120 voltage, 60 Hz. Your oven should be the only appliance on this circuit.

Consult a qualified electrician or servicer if you do not understand the grounding instructions or if you are not sure if the appliance is properly grounded. Use of Extension Cords A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer cord sets or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a long cord or extension cord is used: 1. The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. 2. The extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord and it must be plugged into a 3-slot outlet. 3. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally. If you use an extension cord, the interior light may flicker and the blower may vary when the microwave oven is on. Cooking times may be longer, too. Note: Connect the oven to a 20A circuit. When connecting the oven to a 15A circuit, make sure that circuit breaker is operable. Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea are able to be overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present.WARNING Do not cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord under any circumstances. When cooking with the convection feature, use the short metal rack to elevate food so that air can circulate completely around the dish. To cook with the convection oven, Use the Number buttons to set a cooking time. Preheating the Oven Some recipes may call for preheating the oven before you cook with convection, combination, or broil cooking. To preheat the oven: Press Preheat, Combo or Broil. You can set a specific preheating temperature in convection mode. This type of cooking is ideal for large foods that require a long cooking time when prepared in a conventional oven (such as dense cakes, large roasts, and turkeys). Remove all metal before cooking. 21 If the dish is warm, then it is absorbing microwave energy and is not acceptable for use in the microwave. Cooking Techniques Stirring Stir foods such as casseroles and vegetables while cooking to distribute heat evenly. Food at the outside of the dish absorbs more energy and heats more quickly, so stir from the outside to the center. The oven will turn off when you open the door to stir your food. Arrangement Arrange unevenly shaped foods, such as chicken pieces or chops, with the thicker, meatier parts toward the outside of the turntable where they receive more microwave energy. To prevent overcooking, place thin or delicate parts toward the center of the turntable. Shielding Shield food with narrow strips of aluminum foil to prevent overcooking. Areas that need shielding include poultry wing-tips, the ends of poultry legs, and corners of square baking dishes. Use only small amounts of aluminum foil. Larger amounts can damage your oven. This is especially important with large items such as roasts. Standing Foods cooked in the microwave build up internal heat and continue to cook for a few minutes after the oven stops. Let foods stand to complete cooking, especially foods such as roasts and whole vegetables. Roasts need this time to complete cooking in the center without overcooking the outer areas.

All liquids, such as soup or hot chocolate, should be shaken or stirred when cooking is complete. Let liquids stand a moment before serving. When heating baby food, stir well and test the temperature before serving. Adding Moisture Microwave energy is attracted to water molecules. Food that is uneven in moisture content should be covered or allowed to stand so that the heat disperses evenly. Add a small amount of water to dry food to help it cook. 22 Always use pot holders when removing food from the microwave and instruct children to do the same. The temperature of the food will rise during the standing time. Power Level: High(0). Place roast fat-side down on roasting rack. Cover with wax paper. Turn over when cooking time is half up. Amana Radarange microwaves are simple to keep clean, and they have easy-to-read display panels. Even though these microwaves are great pieces of machinery, they can malfunction. However, you can check for and fix the problem yourself in a number of simple ways. Fix an Amana Radarange microwave. Push the power cord all the way into the outlet in case it became loose and is causing the problem. If the microwave still isn't working, check for a blown circuit fuse, and repair it. Check that the controls on the microwave are programmed correctly according to the owner's manual. If they aren't, program them. Close the microwave door firmly. Touch the cook function on the Start Pad, not the timer. Check if the microwave works. If not, continue to step 4. Program the Power Level correctly. If it's not programmed properly, the microwave will cook the food too quickly or too slowly. Use only microwave safe dishes.

Make sure food is evenly shaped and defrosted before placing it in the Amana Radarange microwave. Soon, emails poured in from all over the US, and even a few international messages.

“We love our Amana!,” “Where can I find part X,Y,Z,” “What year is my machine?” and “Can you fix mine?”. It was then that I realized there’s little support for these workhorse machines. Even harder than finding service information or parts is trying to track down all the models and variations produced. My goal has been to do something about that and document it here. Introduced in 1967, it set the bar for the competition for years to come. See below for details. Whole-machine overhauls and tune-ups are also available for 'old reliable'. A limited number of NOS Touchmatic and Touchmatic II's are now in stock. Many parts are no longer available, and unfortunately, the techs that worked on them when new have mostly retired. Most appliance dealers will tell you it’s not worth fixing, and frankly, they have no idea how to fix them. That’s a shame, because these machines were designed to be repaired, and can be kept operating practically indefinitely. The majority of parts listed below are of the used-good variety though I also have some NOS Amana parts listed as well. Should you need your panel repaired (either analog or digital) give me a shout at the email below. Interested? Just send me an email at the address below in red and I can assist. For all parts, please contact me with your request and I will reply promptly. I charge only actual shipping rates. Check or PayPal accepted. By far the biggest request I receive is from those looking for a replacement tray. The good news is I occasionally come across good used trays in both the early and late styles and offer them when I can. Early trays contain a warning about operating the machine without the tray present. Late trays have the word FRONT embossed in the glass. Both fit most, if not all, Touchmatics, Cookmatics, RR-xx and RRL-xx series Radaranges (1968 through early 80's). As of July 2020, I also have brand-new FRONT style trays available. Regular probes are NEW OEM. Late shields are NEW OEM.https://www.efg-badoeynhausen.de/images/brother-7820n-repair-manual.pdf
