Other variations of the first generation 6HP in addition to the 6HP26, were 6HP19, and 6HP32 having lower and higher torque capacity, respectively. In 2007, the second generation of the 6HP series was introduced, with models 6HP21 and 6HP28. A 6HP34 was planned, but never went into production. This means the 6HP26 is actually lighter than its five-speed 5HP predecessors. It also has the capability to achieve torque converter lock-up on all six forward gears, and disengage it completely when at a standstill, dramatically closing the fuel efficiency gap between automatic and manual transmissions.Deviant gear ratios indicate another manufacturer as shown in the template. After gaining additional gear ratios only with additional components, this time the number of components has to decrease for the first time in spite of the necessity of even more ratios. Coming from 5 gear ratios made of 10 main components (gear sets, Ravigneaux considered as 2, brakes, clutches) to the 6 made of 8 now reflects, what major progress the Lepelletier gear mechanism means compared to conventional designs like the 5HP-family.When this failure starts to occur, shift quality and speed, torque transfer and even loss of ability to engage gears can occur. As such, the 6HP19 is rated at 400 N?m (295 lb?ft) of torque. It was rated for a maximum input torque of 600 newton metres (443 lbf?ft ). It was first used by the BMW 7 Series (E65) in 2001. Initially reserved for high end luxury and sports cars, ZF made the 6HP26 available to Hyundai for use on its 2009 model year V8 Genesis.Ford has developed their own versions ( 6R60 and 6R80 ) based on the 6HP26. Therefore, certain Ford vehicles will not be listed. It was used by the Volkswagen Group for some permanent four-wheel drive models.By using this site, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.http://aradovan.com/userfiles/4610-printer-service-manual.xml

zf 6 speed manual transmission, zf 6 speed manual transmission bmw, gm zf 6 speed manual transmission, zf 6 speed manual transmission for sale, zf 6 speed manual transmission corvette, zf 6 speed manual transmission rebuild kit, zf6 6 speed manual transmission, zf 6 speed manual transmission duramax, zf 6 speed manual transmission fluid change, zf 6 speed manual transmission specs, 6 speed manual transmission zf, 6 speed manual transmission ford, 6 speed manual transmission for diesel, 6 speed manual transmission for hemi, 6 speed manual transmission for sale, 6 speed manual transmission for 1976 corvette, 6 speed manual transmission for cummins, 6 speed manual transmission for mustang, 6 speed manual transmission ford mustang, 6 speed manual transmission for chevy 350, 6 speed manual transmission for 1965 mustang, 6 speed manual transmission gm, 6 speed manual transmission cars, 6 speed manual transmission ford, 6 speed manual transmission for ls1, 6 speed manual transmission for hemi, 6 speed manual transmission for sale, 6 speed manual transmission ford mustang, 6 speed manual transmission ford 302 1969.

Comfortable, economical, safe, and ecological. The modularly designed EcoShift 6-speed transmission model range adds new qualities to the driveline of city buses, intercity buses, and coaches, and ensures maximum flexibility. With optional extension modules, such as the new ZF-Intarder for more safety or an additional cooling system for especially demanding operating conditions, transmissions can be tailor-made for each application specification. Compared to previous manual transmissions, EcoShift boasts increased efficiency and operating comfort. The pressure oil lubrication with flat oil sump reduces gear resistance. The simple, smooth, and precise shifting provides for relaxed driving. Passengers and the environment profit in equal measure from the reduced noise emissions. BMW began offering the new rapid shift transmission in the 3 Series Coupe and the X3 in September. The rapid shift transmission is designed for an input torque of up to a maximum 850 Nm—i.e. for light-duty vehicles with engines of up to twelve cylinders. A separate pressure regulator directly controls the respectively need clutch so that no additional time is required for jumping a drive stage. Called the target gear finding mechanism, this makes the shift process precise. If—at an approximate driving speed of 70 kph in sixth gear—the transmission receives a kickdown signal, it needs just 100 milliseconds to trigger the change from sixth to second gear. Thus, six gears can be realized with significantly less components.http://czechdidgeridoo.com/admin/upload/4610-service-manual.xml

In the past, only three gear sets and six shift elements were needed for the automatic 5-speed transmission; today, a simple planetary gear set suffices as well as a Ravigneaux gear set in combination with five shift elements. Increased use of plastics contributes to the reduction of weight and consequently fuel consumption. In effect, the lossy torque converter is then used only during the initial acceleration from standstill and gear shifts, not in regular driving. This is due to fuel flow rate limiting by the engine controller, to avoid excessive mechanical stresses in the engine. In many cases, 90% of maximum rated torque is already available somewhere in the 1500-2200 RPM range. This high load capacity permits longer gearing ratios and earlier upshifts, such that the engine is operated closer to its point of optimum fuel efficiency. The transmission control logic needs to be tuned for each engine model. In what context should we view the claimed fuel consumption savings. Are these back to back tests with the same engine and vehicle - almost definitely not. Are they predictions based on some extrapolated data made to look nice by the marketing department - probably. Unfortunately it is rare to ever see genuine comparison data. They are getting heavier and the engines are getting more powerful to ensure the same vehicle performance. That should highlight the remarkable achievements of Powertrain engineers to just maintain the fuel consumption numbers, let alone reduce them. AT market share is expected to grow over the next decade, though not explosively so. Unfortunately, the trannies in many SUVs and pick-up trucks are actually older 3- or 4-speed designs without any lock-up clutch at all. Those do raise fuel consumption by 8-10% over a manual. The quest is to maximize use of lock-up to reduce fuel consumption further. Thought, very few of American drivers use these capabilities. Even economical 1.

8l Japanese engine with low level low-RPM torque, if mated with automatics, could launch a car from stand-still with wheel-spin. That’s why American drivers, 90% driving automatics, are not so sensitive to high low-end torque, so prized by Europeans preferring manual transmissions. Abstract Manual transmission of ZF are normaly used in sportive automobils. Due to increased engine torque and the demands of the costumer for higher vehicle speed, increase of shifting comfort and noise reduction has been the reason for the development of two new manual 6-speed transmissions. The new transmissions offer an optimum shift comfort, high efficiency, highest reliability and best power-to-weight-ratio. Then, an information spread link model for multi-layer of social network is obtained through the trusted central nodes. Finally, the shortest transmission path among layers of social network is calculated. The experimental results show that time-varying selection strategy of trusted central nodes restrains the rumor transmission which increases the reliability of information in social network.

The information spread link algorithm for multi-layer of social network can reduce the path length and transmission time and improve the transmission efficiency. Failure Mode Avoidance Methodologies Within the Automotive Industry March 2004 Steve Brown Reliability from a probabilistic definition has been defined as the probability that a system will meet its intended function under stated conditions for a specified period of time. Therefore, in order to predict reliability, one must know three things: 1) function, 2) stated conditions, and 3) the specified time for the prediction. Their reasoning is the fact that one cannot accurately define the time to measure reliability nor the stated conditions in the field. An emerging concept is not to measure reliability using conventional tools and methodologies, but to measure the failure modes that occur. If one can then distance the product from the failure mode, by default product reliability will increase. Therefore an emerging definition for reliability is simply failure mode avoidance. It is the intent of this paper to review probabilistic methods of reliability measurement, modeling and prediction as applicable to the automotive industry.

Probability distribution functions and their applications in reliability evaluation will be explored. Failure mode avoidance methodologies, including noise management strategies will be explored as well. In conclusion, contrasting viewpoints of probabilistic reliability and failure mode avoidance will be presented. Stretch-bending formability diagram of profiles is used to express quantitatively their relations. Based on the diagram, an evaluation expert system for stretch bending formability of profiles is developed. The system makes inference based on basic data in database and provides graphical display to show enough information to users. The system is implemented by object-oriented programming and modularized design. Typical examples prove the reliability of the system. The system can meet the demands of quality control in concurrent engineering condition. The work may be helpful for the extensive applications of stretch-bending process of profiles in industry. There are 16 base models with 11 different wheelbases, two types of All engines are work together with a n e w manual transmission Z F, which ca n b e six - o r ni n e - speed.

All 4x2 models are equipped with a 6 - speed manual g e ar box, and later, as an option, was offered an automat ic 5 - speed transmission.Since 1951 all heavy-duty trucks received 105 hp engin e, 4 - speed manual transmission a n d many of them used 2-speed rear axles. In 2008, Chevrolet T-Series received more. I thought they were slow to respond, slow to shift, bad for fuel consumption and expensive to service. This 2nd generation version, however, has been re-engineered to give lower fuel consumption and faster shift times, in order to be more competitive with the new Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCTs) which are appearing on the market now. Although, to be fair, there can be significant differences between the 'real-world' fuel consumption, and the official fuel consumption which is measured over the European Drive Cycle - sometimes better and sometimes worse. In other words, the engine spends more time directly connected to the wheels, like a manual, and less time dissipating energy in the torque converter fluid (a typical torque converter has 80-85% efficiency, but these new versions achieve up to 92%, according to ZF). Finally, the torque converter is disengaged at 0mph, which means there is no vehicle creep at junctions, and further economy benefits. By reducing the torque fluctuations from the engine, the converter can be locked-up earlier, without subjecting the driver to any undesirable noise or vibration. Meanwhile, many of the important oil channels in the hydraulic controller are now shorter and wider, to improve efficiency. So, for example, a jump from 4th to 2nd involved going from 4th to 3rd and then 3rd to 2nd, although there was an overlap which reduced the overall shift time. The 2nd generation 6HP can jump over a gear completely, or even three gears when going from 6th down to 2nd, or 5th down to 1st. This compares to the DCT technology, which has to change sequentially, through each gear in turn.

In the 2nd generation 6HP transmissions there is more communication between the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and the TCU. In particular, the TCU is able to ask the ECU to 'blip' the engine speed, at certain times during the shifting process, to ensure a smooth gear transition. In addition to its usual task of determining the right gear for the conditions, the TCU also monitors the driving style of the driver, and adjusts the shift strategy accordingly. Therefore, we are unlikely to see the new versions appearing on many, if any of the Ford Group applications. Many parts are carried over from the 1st to 2nd generations, whilst other parts have been re-designed for use in the 2nd generation versions only. A third group of parts are those which were improved for the 2nd generation, but which will now be used on the 1st generation as well, to benefit from the economies of scale. In addition to this, and quite apart from any technical reasons, there is the market effect, which should not be dismissed lightly, whereby one vehicle OEM will want to keep up with, or exceed what its competitors are doing. ZF has stated that it is not going to develop a 7-speed automatic, but it has also said that a replacement to the 6HP is under development. So, given that Mercedes-Benz has had its 7-speed automatic available for several years (the 7G-Tronic or W7A-700), we can safely say that ZF will launch an 8-speed '8HP', for use initially by BMW.The larger 6HP-34 may not ever be manufactured, as there is a suggestion that BMW might be content to use the uprated 6HP-28 instead, in place of the current 6HP 32. TransmissionsThe easiest way to identify the unit is to see that it has power take off (pto) opening plates on the lower sides of the unit. ZF transmissions are reliable units that should provide good service when taken care of properly.

Keep in mind that the ZF has 6 constant mesh mainshaft gears, so there is a considerable amount of potential for heat buildup. It is never a good idea to leave the truck idling with a pto engaged, such as in tow truck applications. The unit was redesigned in '96 and had small, but significant changes. The synchro teeth were enlarged to provide longer life and more positive shifts, and the bearing retainer was designed to be replaced without having to disassemble the case. The case was beefed up also with this design. Check all the components of your drivetrain carefully first. Things like injectors, dual mass flywheels, or even differential problems can cause a noise to come through the unit. Before we tear a unit down with a noise complaint, we make sure that we have done our best to eliminate the possibility of something else as a the source of the noise. Ford's configuration uses a unique internal oil pump to pump lubricating oil to an external oil cooler, much like that of an automatic transmission, to dissipate the heat generated during heavy-duty use or towing. It also uses a different input bearing. The Ford ZF5 and ZF6 line uses a tapered input bearing for added strength. They started using them again in 2001 mated to their 8100 Vortec and the Isuzu Duramax engines. GM modified theirs to accommodate for the complaints Ford had with theirs. A large complaint was the noise produced. They added a bushing to metal rail socket for the shifter stub. They also added more angle to the helical gearsets to aid in reducing noise. GM models do not use an external oil cooler. Instead, they opted for allowing the transmission to operate at a higher temperature, then specified the use of synthetic oil, which will tolerate higher temperatures than conventional oil and is expected to last the life of the vehicle without oil changes. Think of the three-speed bicycle you had growing up and compare it to today’s 27-gear road bike that helps you pedal farther with less fatigue. But consider this: as transmissions get more creative, their durability may be less than ironclad. One clutch acts on first, third and fifth gear, and the other handles second, fourth and sixth gear. This automatic relies on dry clutches and electric solenoid actuation to provide quick shifts and without the hydraulic losses associated with torque converters. Steep inclines sometimes cause excessive clutch slip. Ford’s dual-clutch automated transmission has frustrated many drivers with its jerky and noisy shifts, slippage and outright mechanical failure. Defects include faulty throw-out bearings and control modules, worn friction material and fluid leaks. Wholesale replacement of the transmission doesn’t necessarily mean the new one is markedly better. Surprisingly, Ford has stuck with the transmission for more than seven years. PowerShift has marred the ownership experience for thousands of 2011-2018 Fiesta and 2012-18 Focus owners. What’s the appeal?

Somewhat like a bicycle chain, a CVT’s heavy-duty drive belt runs between grooved pulleys with hydraulic actuators, allowing the “gear ratio” to vary infinitely within a range, seamlessly. CVTs deliver tangible fuel savings, but more importantly for manufacturers, the units are simpler and cheaper to produce. Nissan vehicles have been featuring CVTs for 15 years, but they’ve demonstrated less than stellar reliability. Common complaints include violent shaking and stuttering, difficulty accelerating, overheating and suddenly shutting down. Early examples saw the CVTs snap their metallic belts at relatively low mileage. The compact 9HP unit, which also debuted in the Land Rover Evoque, weighed 7.5 kg less than the outgoing six-speed automatic. ZF touts that the 9HP can deliver fuel savings of 16 per cent compared to a six-speed autobox. Reported issues include sudden lunges from unexpected downshifts, no kickdown when merging on a highway, front-axle vibration in low gears and complete mechanical failure. The Italian-built Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X also use the transmission. ZF recalled the transmission for unexpectedly shifting into neutral due to an improper crimp on a wiring harness. The innovative dual clutch hastens gear changes, maximizing driveline efficiency and smoothness, making it ideal in performance-oriented VW and Audi models. The seven-speed version was launched with a dry clutch, like Ford’s PowerShift. It was prone to overheating and seizing up, so in 2008 Audi introduced a seven-speed wet clutch to address these issues. In 2009, Volkswagen issued two DSG recalls related to faulty temperature sensors shifting the units into neutral. In 2013, VW Group announced a worldwide recall of 1.6 million vehicles over problems with the seven-speed DSG, which could lead to loss of power while driving. It works in tandem with a six-speed automatic transmission that, while it hasn’t failed outright, has owners frustrated with its shift behaviour.

Other hiccups exhibited by the AC60 transmission include lagging gear engagement from Park or Reverse, harsh 1-2 upshifts, and delayed upshifts when the cruise control is engaged. The power band and shift points of this oddly matched couple leave the Taco feeling sluggish much of the time. Owners have confirmed the software changes have largely fixed the transmission’s poor shift action. Toyota supplies its own transmissions through its affiliate, Aisin, which has become a major supplier of automatic transmissions to other automakers. Chrysler struck a deal to assemble the German transmission under licence in its own plant in Kokomo, Indiana. Owners of 2014 and 2015 Grand Cherokees have complained about the tranny jerking and hesitating when changing gears, and a number have had to replace the transmission outright. Owners have noted that the units can leak fluid and overheat. Fiat Chrysler has a software update that programs the transmission to shift to Park if the driver’s seatbelt is unbuckled, the driver’s door is opened and the vehicle is stopped. The Internet is crammed with complaints about fast-wearing clutch materials, wonky throw-out bearings, leaky slave and master cylinders, and other components that fail too soon. If you’re inclined to buy a used car with a manual gearbox, note the makes and models owners have criticized for having short-lived manual transmissions, such as Fiat, Mazda, Mini and Subaru. Italy’s Fiat, which has been producing automobiles for 120 years and millions of manual gearboxes, has seen its clutches reportedly wear out in as little as 40,000 km.
